Natural home remedy or remedies for a toothache simply include the use of naturally available herbs, spices, vegetables or condiments. Since natural herbs have natural analgesic ingredients, they are widely used in most of the medications. Herbs are toxic free and harmless, unlike the synthetic medicines that may relief the pain permanently but have negative effects on the body.
Following natural home remedies can be beneficial in reducing toothache. These are as follows-
- Massage it!
You can try rubbing or massaging a V-shaped area between your fingers with a raw ice for about 5 to 10 minutes. This could allay your tooth pain.
- Give a cold treatment with ice!
You can put some pieces of raw ice or packs of ice over the affected tooth for 15 minutes. This will numb the toothache and give you relief.
- Spice it!
Spices such as clove and its oil have antiseptic property that decreases the infection and helps to reduce the toothache. Grind a clove or put pure clove oil on the toothache area, it will reduce the pain instantly. Mixture of salt and pepper powder can also be used to alleviate toothache.

- Bump up your head!
Toothache can get worse when you sleep or lie down. You can lift up your head with few extra pillows and alleviate your pain.
- Rinse it!
Rinsing your mouth with salt water is good for any toothache. Mix a spoon of salt to a glass full of lukewarm water and used it to rinse your mouth after meals. This can reduce sores in the gums and thus reduce pain.
- Charcoal powder:
Make a paste by mixing activated charcoal powder with water and apply the paste to gauze. Place this gauze on the affected tooth and bite it. Or else you can make a charcoal compress by mixing activated charcoal powder with a clove oil. You can then bundle it in a cloth and place it on the toothache.
