What is a natural remedy for a toothache to get instant relief?

Toothache is caused due to several reasons such as tooth decay or cavity, gum disease, crooked or broken teeth and abscess teeth. Toothache can be intense depending on the extent of the cavity or infection. Toothache can be excruciating and can greatly affect the life of an individual. A person cannot eat, swallow, sleep or drink cold or hot water and this can make life extremely painful and miserable.

Rather going for a painkiller or over-the-counter reliever, these natural home remedies can be beneficial in reducing your toothache.

Natural home remedy or remedies for a toothache simply include the use of naturally available herbs, spices, vegetables or condiments. Since natural herbs have natural analgesic ingredients, they are widely used in most of the medications. Herbs are toxic free and harmless, unlike the synthetic medicines that may relief the pain permanently but have negative effects on the body.

Following natural home remedies can be beneficial in reducing toothache. These are as follows-

  • Massage it!

You can try rubbing or massaging a V-shaped area between your fingers with a raw ice for about 5 to 10 minutes. This could allay your tooth pain.

  • Give a cold treatment with ice!

You can put some pieces of raw ice or packs of ice over the affected tooth for 15 minutes. This will numb the toothache and give you relief.

  • Spice it!

Spices such as clove and its oil have antiseptic property that decreases the infection and helps to reduce the toothache. Grind a clove or put pure clove oil on the toothache area, it will reduce the pain instantly. Mixture of salt and pepper powder can also be used to alleviate toothache.

  • Toothache plant!

Echinacea is known as a toothache plant. You can use a tincture of Echinacea or for best effect use a fresh root from the plant.

  • Garlic and onion:

Lay a garlic clove (with pinch of rock salt) on top of the toothache to get relief. Onions have antimicrobial activity. Simply place a piece of onion on the toothache this will alleviate your pain.

  • Whisky remedy!

Sip little whisky and hold it inside the mouth in the affected toothache area and then spew out the whisky. The alcohol in the whisky could numb the tooth pain and give you quick relief. Even you can soak cotton in vodka and squeeze it on the affected tooth area. This will also numb the pain and give you relief.

  • Bump up your head!

Toothache can get worse when you sleep or lie down. You can lift up your head with few extra pillows and alleviate your pain.

  • Rinse it!

Rinsing your mouth with salt water is good for any toothache. Mix a spoon of salt to a glass full of lukewarm water and used it to rinse your mouth after meals.  This can reduce sores in the gums and thus reduce pain.

  • Charcoal powder:

Make a paste by mixing activated charcoal powder with water and apply the paste to gauze. Place this gauze on the affected tooth and bite it. Or else you can make a charcoal compress by mixing activated charcoal powder with a clove oil. You can then bundle it in a cloth and place it on the toothache.

Though home remedies can alleviate the pain temporarily, they cannot fix or cure the problem permanently.
